Dr. Jun Tamura graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Hokkaido University in 2005 with a Master of Veterinary Science (BVSc). Following graduation, he worked at Hyotan-yama Animal Medical Center, providing primary care for small animals. He then joined Rakuno Gakuen University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, where he gained experience as a resident in the oncology and anesthesiology departments. From 2011 to 2015, he pursued doctoral studies at Rakuno Gakuen University Graduate School, earning a Ph.D. for his research in veterinary anesthesiology.
From 2016 to 2019, Dr. Tamura worked at the Animal Medical Center for Specialized Medicine and Emergency Care, focusing on anesthesiology and pain management. In 2019, he joined Hokkaido University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital as a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor, specializing in anesthesia and critical care. Since 2021, he has served as an Associate Professor, dedicating himself to the education and research of veterinary anesthesiology and intensive care.
In 2023, Dr. Tamura obtained the Japanese Veterinary Anesthesia and Surgery Society’s Animal Anesthesia Certification (charter member) and completed the RECOVER BLS/ALS course, showcasing his commitment to advancing veterinary anesthesiology and critical care. He also completed the Hemodialysis Academy 2022 program, reflecting his proactive approach to adopting new technologies and techniques.
Currently, Dr. Tamura is actively engaged in teaching and research at Hokkaido University, contributing to the education of the next generation of veterinary professionals and advancing veterinary medicine.
