Alexander Thomson

Dr. Alexander Thomson is a clinical assistant professor in anesthesia and pain medicine at Cornell University. His clinical expertise includes regional anesthesia, ultrasound-guided interventions, and cardiothoracic anesthesia. His academic interests focus on interventional pain management, clinical pharmacology, and strategies to improve perioperative safety and communication. Dr. Thomson is an ACVAA Founding Fellow in Pain Management.
He previously served as a medical director and anesthesiologist in two referral hospitals in Hong Kong, where he led specialty hospital development, accreditation initiatives, and clinical training and patient safety programs. His research and publications span regional anesthesia, pharmacology, and anesthetic safety, with contributions to Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and Frontiers in Veterinary Science.
