Xiu Ting Yiew

Dr. Xiu Ting Yiew is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Studies at the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC), University of Guelph, Canada. She earned her DVM from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2013 and worked at the University Veterinary Hospital for 2.5 years before completing a combined three-year residency and doctoral graduate program in Emergency & Critical Care at OVC. She attained ACVECC board certification in 2019 and, following a brief postdoctoral fellowship, joined the OVC faculty in 2020. Dr. Yiew is drawn to Emergency & Critical Care for its fast pace and adrenaline rush, the constant demand to think on her feet, and the diverse range of clinical cases and life-saving procedures that make the work engaging and meaningful. In addition to clinical practice, she is passionate about teaching and continuing education, often speaking and running workshops across North America. Her clinical and research interests include fluid stewardship, point-of-care ultrasound, minimally invasive monitoring, acute kidney injury, and extracorporeal therapies.
