With a passion for empowering veterinarians through point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), Dr Pam Manning is dedicated to making ultrasound an accessible, practical tool for everyday clinical practice. She co-founded VPOCUS Australia to deliver hands-on workshops across the country, partnering with global experts and local educators to provide high-quality POCUS training. Originally from the United States, Pam earned a biochemistry degree from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly SLO) before completing her veterinary degree at the University of Sydney. Her clinical experience spans both countries, with special interests in emergency and critical care, ultrasound, and clinical communication. Pam has facilitated POCUS training at the University of Sydney, James Cook University, the University of Queensland, and private practices across Australia. She has collaborated with leading veterinary POCUS educators, including Dr. Søren Boysen and Dr. Serge Chalhoub, to bring cutting-edge ultrasound education to veterinary teams. In her roles as Clinical Communication Skills Educator, POCUS Trainer, and Emergency Veterinarian, Pam blends technical expertise with compassionate care. Her research explores peer-to-peer POCUS training, learning curves, and ultrasound's role in improving clinical outcomes. She continues to champion ultrasound as a vital tool for enhancing patient care and clinical decision-making.
