Tomohiro Yonezawa

Tomohiro Yonezawa graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, The University of Tokyo, with a specialization in Veterinary Medicine, and later earned his Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine from the same institution. His career includes roles as a Research Fellow (DC2) of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, a researcher at Ajinomoto Co., Inc., and academic positions at Kitasato University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Since 2013, he has been an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo. He has also served as a visiting researcher at institutions such as the University of California, Riverside, and the Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida.

Yonezawa’s research focuses on oncology, endocrinology, and clinical pathology, spanning both basic research and clinical applications. His key projects include elucidating the mechanisms of tumor progression through macrophage-derived proteins (AIM), studying the nephroprotective effects of antioxidants, and advancing diagnostics and treatments for chronic kidney disease and tumors in companion animals. These findings have significantly contributed to advancements in veterinary diagnostics and therapeutics.

He is actively engaged in academic presentations, lectures, and textbook authorship, contributing to the development of veterinary medicine. Additionally, he is dedicated to fostering the next generation of veterinarians and researchers.

With a commitment to evidence-based advancements in veterinary science, Yonezawa continues to pursue excellence in both research and education.
