Dr. Kawase graduated from Rakuno Gakuen University with a degree in veterinary medicine and obtained his veterinary license. He began his career at Chayagasaka Animal Hospital in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, where he specialized in cardiac surgery. Following this, he pursued further studies at the graduate school of Rakuno Gakuen University while working at Heart Animal Medical Center.
Since 2014, Dr. Kawase has been serving as the Director and Executive Officer of Sapporo Night Animal Hospital. Additionally, he is the President of this academic society, a board member for Pet BLS, and a part-time lecturer at Hokkaido University. In this role, he provides instruction in emergency medicine to veterinary students at Hokkaido University and Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.
